The more Earth  the better the album (rating from 1 to 5).   Ad Infinitum - Ad Infinitum

Ad Infinitum - Ad Infinitum
(Kinesis - KDCD 1022)

A new band from the United States with a remarkable album. The songs vary from excellent prog rock to calm symphonic compositions. Throughout the album there is a bit of Yes-like atmosphere though you cannot say this is a Yes clone. It brings in a lot more out of the good old seventies. Like most of the new progressive bands you can easily aware some Genesis influences too. But in the end, the eyecatcher in the shape of a painting made by Roger Dean on the booklet links to the old masters as well. From the Fish-like intro in the opener 'Ad Infinitum' there is an overall suspense created that lasts the entire album. That is the strongest part of this cd, because there are musically seen no real highlights found. Just compare them with Rocket Scientists and a little with Iluvatar.  Nevertheless this one scores above average. Try and listen.
