The more Earth  the better the album (rating from 1 to 5). Aragon - Mr. Angel

Aragon - Mr. Angel
(LaBraD'or Records LBD 040002)

After the release of 'Mouse' we haven't heard much from this Australian band. This has several reasons. One is because of the bankrupcy of the former label and the very little samples that are made of this pretentious album. Another is that this band had to reflect this bad luck and finally made plans again for a new album. An album that has the form of let's say 'Don't bring the rain'. All short songs that stand apart from each other, but suit in the same concept. No second 'Mouse'. When you expect such an album you'll be disappointed. But this will be over when you hear the results of all those years hard working. Singer Les Dougan still sounds very emotional as before. The basic Aragon-sound is very dominating these tracks (though it's a pity to hear a drummachine again). Aragon knows how to find the balance between a catchy song and a symphonic style that doesn't allow any compromises as no other. All the songs containing highlights and it's difficult to say that there are real bad songs. For the real symphonic rock fan there are ballad-like songs like 'The art gallery', 'The crying song' and 'The haunting'. And there are some more up-tempo tracks like 'One angry moment', 'Surface tension' and 'Her it comes again'. With the other Aragon releases in mind you should listen more than twice to this record that is a whale of an album.
