Crucible - Tall tales
(CV Management)

The band Crucible does exist for ten years and has their debut album with 'Tall tales'. This five men band found its basics in old-Genesis and old-Yes-like compositions. Very nice progsongs sometimes over more than ten minutes lasting. Besides the basic groundlayer there's a lot of influences that will make this American band have a worldwide sound. Lots of Kansas, Rush and Jethro Tull style as we know from Enchant. But the comparison with this band is over when Crucible changes to instrumental themes in the vein of old Yes, Genesis, ELP and so on. The opener 'Over the falls' is dominated by the '70's progsound and is very nice to listen to. 'Lords and leeches' is another long song with a typical atmospheres that leads you to 'higher' places. The epic 'An imp's tale' is the last but longest one on the album. Clocking over twenty minutes this seven part song contains all the styles mentioned above. Kansas fans just got a new one to adore. The album 'Tall tales' has been released late '97 and did sell more than a thousand copies within three months. And that for a private label, stunning.
