Flamborough Head - Unspoken
whisper Finally we've got a real symphonic masterpiece from Holland. Totally in the vein of classic bands like Jadis or IQ these boys are using symphonic cliches, but creating a sound of their own. This debut album will reach the midstream sympho fan without any doubt. Songs like 'Schoolyard fantasy', 'Unspoken whisper' for instance are outstanding songs with wide keyboard carpets and clear vocalparts. (somehow a little much delay in it) The band is already known by a small group of sympho adorers. But with this new album the reputation will absolutely grow. Not mentioning the two short instrumentals the songs all last more than seven minutes. Mostly all the tracks contain a lot of symphonic value. A few notes refer to more modern prog (metal) influences. The item child can be found at several places on this album. There is a song about child abuse and one about drugproblems among young people. In the booklet the band presents the members using photographs from their childhood. There is even one song that is dedicated to a local radio station here in Holland called 'Xymphonia'. (So you see how important we are) Maybe a small advice for the next album; a little bit less cliche and some more FH symphony in the songs. My favorite is the titletrack, but you better find it out by yourself. This great work deserves a lot of attention, a big hand for Flamborough Head.
