Album of the month September 1998
The more the better the album (rating from 1
to 5).
Galleon - Mind over matter
(VF Productions - VF 005)
It has been quiet a while ago that these young Swedish
band released a new album, but finally. Here it is, a brilliant new progressive rock jewel.
Technicall and productional this is absolute the best Galleon album ever made. The five
tracks last more than 65 minutes. Staring with the song 'Art gallery' you will be
surprised by the overwhelming intensive sound. All the material is really good but some
outragious highlights can be found in 'Hous eof plenty' and 'The wanderer' This album is
an example of the fact that bands do listen to their audience and fans. Though the
predecessor 'The all European hero' was quiet a good album, there was a miss like songs as
can be found on 'Heritage and visions'. Galleon made a step back in the mood and
atmosphere from that former album, but also made a great leap forward by putting the sound
into a more progressive jacket. I will not be surprised if this album will be in the top
of the yearlists in 1998.
